Job Summary
Obtains blood specimens from patients in the hospital, prepares specimens for reference laboratories, collects control specimens, assists technologists and personnel, and performs related clerical, billing and charting duties. Identifies age-specific phlebotomy needs and applies appropriate procedures; supports overall patient care and laboratory workflow within an on-site, full-time night-shift role.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience, preferably in a hospital setting
- Previous exposure to Emergency Room and trauma situations.
- Basic medical terminology
- Understanding of medical ethics and handling of confidential information. Formal or on-the-job blood collection techniques.
