Job Summary
Collect blood specimens from patients of all ages using venipuncture and capillary collection methods, prioritizing workload to efficiently provide providers with necessary information. Process laboratory orders and specimens according to protocol while maintaining compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and governmental standards. Utilize computer information systems to manage appointments and billing, ensuring the draw area is restocked and biohazard containers are emptied. Demonstrate appropriate telephone etiquette and professional customer service, adhering to all company policies and core competencies. Work Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, with flexibility to work holiday shifts as required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Either completion of phlebotomy class or at least one year of phlebotomy experience
- Knowledge of/familiarity with laboratory environment
- Knowledge of/familiarity with medical terminology
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal & problem solving skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to engage others, listen and adapt response to meet others' needs
- Ability to align own actions with those of other team members committed to common goals
- Excellent computer and keyboarding skills, including familiarity with Windows
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities
- Ability to perform job duties in a professional manner at all times
- Ability to understand, recall, and communicate, factual information
- Ability to understand, recall, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information
- Ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology
- Ability to apply common sense in performing job
- Phlebotomy certification preferred
