Job Summary
Collect blood and other fluid samples from patients or residents using appropriate equipment while explaining procedures and gathering health information professionally. Manage specimens, ensure patient safety during collection, and document patient information accurately. Follow standard procedures and safety regulations, including aseptic techniques, while answering resident questions regarding phlebotomy. Work a rotating schedule of 7 on 7 off from 0400 to 1400. A high school diploma or GED is required, with phlebotomy program completion or laboratory experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED)
- Must be able to work rotating shifts
- Must be able to work 7 on 7 off schedule
- Must be able to work 0400-1400 hours
- Must be able to collect samples of blood and other fluids from patients/residents
- Must be able to explain procedures to patients/residents
- Must be able to collect information from patients/residents in a professional manner
- Must be able to collect and manage samples of blood and specimens from patients/residents
- Must be able to ensure patient/resident safety during the sample collection process
- Must be able to record and document patient/resident information accurately
- Must be able to follow all standard procedures and safety regulations
- Must be able to deploy asepsis techniques during phlebotomy procedures
- Must be able to communicate with patients/residents
- Must be able to answer questions regarding phlebotomy procedures
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to pass a drug screen
- Must be able to pass pre-employment background screening
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a formal phlebotomy program
- Phlebotomy experience
- Experience in a laboratory-related field
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
