Job Summary
The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) collects blood samples from patients, prepares specimens for lab testing, and explains procedures to patients while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy. Responsibilities include data entry for patient registration and test orders, entering billing information, processing specimens (labeling, centrifuging, splitting, freezing), using lab technology systems, and supporting billing for test charges. The role involves travel to Territory Manager meetings if held off-site, participation in special projects, adherence to departmental policies, and maintaining phlebotomy and safety logs. Requires ability to work independently, strong phlebotomy skills (including pediatric and geriatric), and flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime. Education options include a high school diploma or equivalent; medical training and phlebotomy certification are preferred (certification required in CA, NV, and WA).
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (Required in CA, NV, WA)
- One year phlebotomy experience preferred
- Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred
- Keyboard/data entry experience
