Phlebotomist/ Laboratory Technician

Job Summary
Conduct venipuncture, finger-stick, and heel-stick procedures while verifying patient identity, reviewing paperwork, and collecting clinical specimens for screening and testing. Assemble equipment, perform patient in-processing, and document all samples per standard operating procedures. Provide technical oversight for invasive procedures, counsel patients on post-phlebotomy care, and handle medical emergencies requiring rapid response. Manage front desk administrative support, supply inventory, and maintain area cleanliness. Offer instruction on patient-centered specimen collection and special requirements. Requires two years of phlebotomy experience, current PBT-ASCP or RPT-AMT certification, BLS/CPR, and exceptional communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of current clinical experience working in a similar environment as a phlebotomist
- Possess and maintains a current certification and registration as a Phlebotomy Technician from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (PBT-ASCP)
- Possess and maintains a current certification and registration as a Phlebotomy Technician from the American Medical Technologist (RPT-AMT)
- Possess Basic Life Support (BLS)/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Possess knowledge of medical terminology
- Must have exceptional diplomatic communication skills
- Must be detailed oriented
- Must have the ability to multi-task
- Possess either a degree or certificate of graduation from an approved/accredited phlebotomy training program
- Possess 12 months experience as a Phlebotomist within the past 36 months
- Must be able to handle average-weight objects up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to stand and/or walk for more than four (4) hours per day
- Must be able to respond to any medical emergency within the clinic
