Job Summary
Collect blood aseptically from patients and employees, including drug and COVID-19 screening, while ensuring proper identification and labeling. Process specimens of any type, enter orders, and handle contaminated materials according to infection control guidelines. Communicate with patient care providers and resolve outstanding report issues during each shift. Maintain patient identity through all processing phases and assist with stock level maintenance. Register patients and distribute supplies upon arrival.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Must be able to communicate with other persons effectively and courteously
- Understand and comprehend basic medical terminology to transcribe physician orders
- Must be able to prioritize work according to written instructions using organizational skills and sound judgment
- Bending, walking, standing, and moderate lifting up to 35 pounds
- Manual dexterity, visual acuity, and color vision
- Must be able to handle all types of biological and physical specimens using proper blood and body fluid precautions
Desired Qualifications
- Phlebotomy certification preferred
- Phlebotomy experience and preferred
