Job Summary
Collect blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary from patients using appropriate equipment and techniques. Review physician requisitions and orders to ensure tests meet Medical Necessity guidelines, preparing Advance Beneficiary Notices when required. Perform EKG, pulse oximetry, and point-of-care testing while maintaining instrumentation quality control. Process specimens including centrifugation, pour-off, aliquoting, labeling, and packaging, then provide patient and insurance data for registration. This 40-hour night shift role involves rotating weekend and holiday coverage with potential travel to other campuses.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate
- Successful completion from a recognized program for training in phlebotomy
- Prior documented experience performing phlebotomy
- Basic life support certification
- Maintenance of annual competencies in BLS
