Job Summary

Phlebotomist/Clerk II responsible for performing phlebotomy (pediatric and geriatric) and supporting the Phlebotomy Team to ensure accurate specimen collection, processing, and workflow. The role includes serving as the primary contact for the lab phone, assisting with difficult draws and complex situations, monitoring supply inventory, training new phlebotomists, troubleshooting specimen collection issues, and adhering to DRH Standards of Behavior and safety protocols. Advanced duties may involve problem resolution in collection processes, maintaining proficiency in phlebotomy techniques, and ensuring high standards of patient care in the Main Laboratory and AOS outpatient settings. Requires excellent customer service, strong communication, attention to detail, and ability to adapt to varying shifts and tasks, with required vaccinations and respirator/fit testing obligations.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of experience in phlebotomy
  • At least 2 years in a healthcare related field or medical practice
  • Some knowledge of medical terminology required
  • Self-motivated with computer skills and familiarity with email, software, and Electronic Health Record information tools
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to emergent or urgent situations
  • Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to meet job requirements
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred
  • Current valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance for roles requiring travel (if applicable)
