Job Summary
Phlebotomist collects blood specimens in a clinical setting, performs venipunctures and skin punctures per CLSI guidelines, labels and processes specimens, and works with clinical counterparts to ensure safe, quality patient care. The role requires ASCP-certified Phlebotomy Technician credentials, a minimum of 2 years’ related experience, and the ability to function in a team while following Geisinger policies. Responsibilities include specimen accessioning, problem solving, mentoring trainees, and supporting various Phlebotomist I–III levels with competency-based development; work is performed in a hospital/clinic environment with opportunities for ongoing training and benefits.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Minimum of 2 years related work experience (Required)
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician - ASCP (ASCP Certification)
- Phlebotomist I/II/III qualifications considered
- Basic venipuncture and skin puncture procedures per CLSI guidelines
- Ability to mentor students and new employees
- ASCP certification or equivalent preferred
