Job Summary

Performs venipuncture and capillary phlebotomy procedures on patients using appropriate specimen collection equipment and techniques. Reviews physician requisitions to ensure appropriate tests are drawn and meets Medical Necessity guidelines, preparing Advance Beneficiary Notices where required. Conducts EKG, pulse oximetry, and point-of-care testing while maintaining instrumentation quality control. Processes specimens including centrifugation, labeling, and packaging for transport, searching the master patient index for demographic data. Monitors inventory levels, maintains accurate records of processes, and logs refrigeration temperatures for stored supplies and specimens.

Required Qualifications

  • High School graduate
  • Successful completion from a recognized program for training in phlebotomy
  • Basic life support certification
  • Prior documented experience performing phlebotomy
  • Flex, maybe required to work and travel to other campuses and locations per the needs of the department
