Job Summary
Collect and procure blood and human specimens by performing venipunctures and skin punctures according to Clinical laboratory Standards Institute guidelines. Demonstrate expertise in patient identification, specimen collection, labeling, accessioning, and processing across Acute, Post-acute, Clinic, and Field Service areas. Collaborate with clinical counterparts to provide a safe environment while troubleshooting physician orders and processing specimens for testing. Mentor students and new employees, manage inventory as directed, and conduct root cause analyses for continuous improvement. Function as an autonomous end user of business applications under the leadership of Phlebotomist III or other Laboratory Leaders.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Minimum of 1 year Related work experience
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
- 1-2 years of experience (for Phlebotomist II role)
- Graduated from Geisinger's School of Phlebotomy Program (alternative to experience for Phlebotomist II)
- ASCP Certification and Internal preceptor course (for Phlebotomist III role)
- Qualifications of Phlebotomist II (for Phlebotomist III role)
