Job Summary
Phlebotomist I performs venipuncture and specimen collection in a hospital outpatient lab setting, registers patients in EPIC, processes and prepares specimens, operates LIS and related systems, and supports QA and safety initiatives. Responsibilities include patient identification, labeling, routing of specimens, preparation of workstations, equipment maintenance, training of new staff, and collaboration with lab personnel to ensure timely turnaround of specimens and proper handling of pediatric and neonatal samples. Requires completion of a NAACLS-accredited phlebotomy program and HS diploma/GED; strong communication and attention to detail are essential. Schedule is Full Time (SEIU) with rotating weekends/holidays in the 9:30a-6p window.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of a NAACLS accredited phlebotomy program
- Phlebotomy experience or specimen processing experience
- Excellent English communication skills
- Analytical and critical thinking skills
- Confidentiality of health information
- Ability to balance multiple priorities
- Compliance with infection control and safety procedures
