Job Summary
Draw blood for tests, transfusions, donations, or research using vacuum tube, syringe, butterfly venipuncture, or dermal puncture methods. Dispose of contaminated sharps, blood, biohazard fluids, and tissue in accordance with applicable laws and policies. Enter patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information into the computer. Explain procedures to patients and assist in recovery of those with adverse reactions. Maintain absolute discretion over sensitive patient information while demonstrating proper aseptic techniques to prevent injury. Perform this work while standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching frequently, with occasional stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Work 32 hours of night shifts Monday through Friday with every third weekend rotation.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 2yrs or more
- Knowledge of various techniques in collecting specimens
- Familiarity with HIPAA and OSHA Regularities
