Phlebotomist

Job Summary
Performs phlebotomy and related clerical tasks, including organizing, prioritizing, and obtaining blood draw requests (traumas, STATS, ASAP, TIMED, morning draws, and routine requests). Operates the hospital tube system to receive specimens, distributes to appropriate area, and sends reports and labels for collection; verifies patient identification and processes outpatient specimens per department policies. Uses Hospital Information System to order/cancel/add lab test requests, retrieve patient information, and generate chart reports. Greets visitors and handles reception duties; maintains equipment and supplies for drawing stations; handles mail for physician/patient/department distribution; responds to inquiries and routes messages. Oversees training of new employees and collaborates with nursing to resolve issues in phlebotomy and specimen processing. Performs other duties as assigned.
