Job Summary
Prepare patient and collection equipment for blood draws, verify patient identity, and perform phlebotomy on inpatients and outpatients of all ages. Instruct patients on proper urine and stool specimen collection while maintaining sample integrity. Rotate through phlebotomy bench assignments to support laboratory workflow, complete opening and closing checklists, and clean the work area daily. Review and release laboratory orders in the electronic medical record, maintain accurate records, and assist in orientation and training for new employees and students. Work an intermittent day shift as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduation
- Completion of a phlebotomy course
- Current Medical Assistant-Phlebotomy Certification (MA-P) with the Washington State Department of Health
- Ability to obtain the MA-P within 180 days of start date
