Phlebotomist - Fulltime

Job Summary
Perform full range of phlebotomy duties including proper venipuncture, finger-stick, and heel-stick procedures while ensuring patient accessioning, specimen collection, processing, and distribution are completed correctly. Conduct patient in-processing prior to collection by reviewing paperwork, providing cordial guidance, verifying identity, taking vital signs, and drawing blood samples to screen donors. Assemble equipment for specified tests, maintain supply inventory, and document all samples per standard operating procedures. Provide technical oversight and training to ensure invasive procedures are performed safely and expeditiously. Perform non-phlebotomy administrative support in the front desk, exam rooms, and Telehealth areas as needed. This role supports the Community Based Outpatient Clinic at STGi, a workforce solutions company providing comprehensive healthcare delivery, Head Start, and management consulting services.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of current clinical experience working in a similar environment as a phlebotomist
- Current certification and registration as a Phlebotomy Technician from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (PBT-ASCP)
- Current certification and registration as a Phlebotomy Technician from the American Medical Technologist (RPT-AMT)
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of the type and severity of patient reactions, including, but not limited to, syncope, vomiting, and unconsciousness and the procedures for such instances
- Exceptional diplomatic communication skills
- Experience in handling difficult customer situations
- Detail oriented
- Ability to multi-task
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN)
- Associate degree course of study of which the second year of the two year program included successful completion of a training course of approximately one year's duration in a certified laboratory assistant school approved by a nationally recognizing accrediting agency
- One year of study that included six semester hours in chemistry and/or the biological sciences
- Full time training course of approximately one year's duration in a medical or clinical laboratory assistant (or technician) school that included instruction in chemistry, hematology, blood banking, and microbiology (including serology) and that, in addition, included supervised laboratory practices incident to the diagnostic process and the treatment of patients
- One year of study that included at least six semester hours in chemistry and/or biological science
- Two years of study that included a least 12 semester hours of chemistry and/or biological sciences course work that must have been directly related to the specialization of the position to be filled
- Moderate physical activity
- Handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds
- Standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day
- Ability to respond to any medical emergency within the clinic, where a fast walk or job may be necessary to provide assistance
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of current clinical experience working in a similar environment as a phlebotomist preferred
- Current certification and registration as a Phlebotomy Technician from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (PBT-ASCP), or a current certification and registration as a Phlebotomy Technician from the American Medical Technologist (RPT-AMT), preferred but not required
