Job Summary
Greet patients, verify orders, and perform venipuncture using sterile technique while monitoring reactions and ensuring safe disposal of sharps. Process and prepare specimens for laboratory testing by receiving, sorting, and maintaining integrity during transport. Manage Electronic Health Records and Laboratory Information Systems to check patients in and out, release orders, validate data, and document results. Clean equipment, maintain inventory, and support daily operations in a fast-paced clinical environment. Requires standing 75% of the day, lifting up to 35 pounds, and American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification
- Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of phlebotomy procedures, specimen collection, and laboratory processing requirements
- Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory testing protocols
- Understanding of HIPAA privacy and patient confidentiality regulations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills
- Proficiency with computers and software systems including EHR platforms and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure
- Ability to maintain professionalism, sound judgment, and patient confidentiality at all times
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team environment
- Standing for approximately 75% of the workday
- Walking for approximately 15% of the workday
- Sitting for approximately 10% of the workday
- Occasional lifting and maneuvering of up to 35 pounds
- Occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and twisting
- Frequent use of hands for fine manipulation and computer work
- Monday-Friday schedule
