Job Summary
Greet and identify patients, then perform venipuncture, dermal skin specimen collections, and therapeutic phlebotomy using aseptic technique. Adhere to proper labeling and prepare specimens for transport, while assisting with equipment troubleshooting and specimen processing. Document specimen information in the laboratory information system, clean and maintain equipment, and ensure compliance with HIPAA, safety, and infection control guidelines. Interact with laboratory staff, patients, nursing, and medical personnel throughout the collection process.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
Desired Qualifications
- National phlebotomy certification, preferred
- Previous experience in an acute hospital setting or phlebotomy role, preferred
