Job Summary
Perform venipuncture procedures on outpatient veterans while accessioning and processing laboratory specimens according to VA and College of American Pathologists regulations. Greet and log specimen orders, communicate daily status and problems to team members and senior management, and adhere to standard operating procedures for current laboratory processes. Requires NAACLS-certified phlebotomy training, minimum one year experience, and computer literacy. Schedule includes day shifts Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4pm. Required Qualifications
- High school graduate
- Completed a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) certified phlebotomy training program
- Minimum 1 year experience in phlebotomy in an inpatient or outpatient setting
- Experience with accessioning of laboratory specimens
- Experience with processing of laboratory specimens
- Capable of reading standard operating procedures and adhering them to the current laboratory processes
- Communicate clearly the daily status and problems about the laboratory output to team members and senior management of the service
- Computer literate
- Phlebotomy Technician (PBT), American Society of Clinical Pathology, or eligibility pending within 3 months of start date
