Job Summary
Perform donor interviews, evaluate suitability based on Standard Operating Procedure criteria, and conduct blood collection procedures including hemoglobin testing, vital signs monitoring, and phlebotomy. Document donor data, maintain confidentiality, and ensure donor safety and comfort post-donation by managing reactions or complications. Transport collected blood to the center, manage mobile site equipment setup and breakdown, and comply with all safety policies. Maintain prompt attendance and demonstrate excellent customer service while communicating effectively with donors and staff. Requires a valid operator's license, phlebotomy certification, and at least six months of health-related experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must provide a copy of the transcript
- Valid operator's license (MO class E; KS class C)
- Must have and maintain a valid operator's license (MO class E; KS class C)
- Must be able to confidently communicate and interpret intermediate information in English to all members of the public and CBC staff
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Proficient in all duties related to Donor Room Assistant
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good writing skills to successfully document as needed
- Good verbal skills to successfully communicate with donors, chairpersons, community, and co-workers
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Computer skills
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Medical Assistant degree
- Phlebotomy certification
- At least 6 months experience in a health-related field
- At least 6 months experience in Phlebotomy
