Job Summary

Conduct venipuncture and capillary blood collection for accurate laboratory testing while ensuring positive patient identification and specimen integrity. Prepare, package, and transport samples to the lab, maintaining compliance with safety and infection control protocols. Explain procedures to patients, address concerns, and document all information in the laboratory system. Identify and resolve specimen issues, including recollecting samples when necessary, and collaborate with the healthcare team to clarify orders. Clean and sterilize equipment, collect timed specimens, and adhere to all hospital safety requirements and accreditation standards. Maintain regular attendance and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of phlebotomy experience
  • Knowledge of safety guidelines, sanitation, and infection control protocols
  • Ability to perform blood collection techniques successfully across all age groups (neonates to geriatrics)
  • Understanding of standards for patient identification, specimen handling, and lab testing requirements
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, staff, and physicians
  • Ability to multitask, remain calm in stressful situations, and adapt to a dynamic environment
  • Proficiency in distinguishing sample types and understanding order-of-draw requirements for lab testing
  • Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail and accuracy in specimen collection and documentation
  • Full time 2am-12:30pm, rotating weekends
