Job Summary

Collect blood, urine, and stool specimens as ordered by medical providers while verifying patient identity and ensuring proper labeling. Process and document laboratory orders in the Electronic Health Record, maintaining accurate logs and performing quality control procedures including temperature monitoring. Follow OSHA and infection prevention protocols for specimen handling, waste disposal, and safety while providing exceptional customer service to patients and staff. Maintain required certifications and complete annual competencies. This role supports efficient clinic operations within a mission-driven team dedicated to accessible healthcare for underserved populations.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of a certified Phlebotomy Training Program or equivalent (such as Medical Assistant)
  • Experience working as a phlebotomist in a healthcare environment
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare workers
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Experience using Electronic Health Records (EHR)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong customer service and patient-centered care skills
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work with exposure to bloodborne pathogens while following appropriate safety protocols
  • Flexibility to travel between clinic locations when needed

Desired Qualifications

  • Phlebotomy certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologists (AMT), or American Association of Medical Personnel (AAMP)
  • Two years of phlebotomy or laboratory technician experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or healthcare clinic
  • Additional healthcare certifications or volunteer experience
