Job Summary
Phlebotomist collects blood samples from patients of all ages, prepares and processes specimens for laboratory testing, and transports specimens to reference labs as needed. Responsibilities include performing venipuncture, handling and labeling samples, ensuring accurate entry into the laboratory information system, and coordinating with physicians and caregivers to maintain quality, safety, and compliance. Role may involve mobile work within Martin Health sites, with potential floating to other Martin/St. Lucie County sites. Requires BLS certification and the ability to communicate clearly with patients and the healthcare team.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Desired Qualifications
- One year of college or equivalent
- Six months of experience in phlebotomy and laboratory processing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
