Job Summary
Assist technologists in venipuncture and capillary blood collections on patients following standard procedures with little room for deviation. Exercise courtesy and tact while dealing with patients, performing work under general supervision after a period of rigid on-the-job training. Adhere to quality control procedures and department policies to assess data reflective of patient status and provide age-specific care. Complete a phlebotomy course; prior experience is preferred. Deliver outstanding customer service that upholds CarolinaEast's Standards of Excellence within a 350-bed medical center recognized as a Cardiovascular Center of Excellence.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Completion of a phlebotomy course
- Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care in his/her assigned department
- The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development
- Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status
- Interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs
- Provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures
