Job Summary
Obtains blood specimens from patients of all ages (newborn, children, adult, and geriatric) using venipuncture and capillary collection methods; processes laboratory orders and specimens according to protocol; demonstrates appropriate telephone etiquette; utilizes computer information systems; adheres to organization and governmental standards including OSHA and HIPAA; performs clerical duties; promotes professional customer service; follows Code of Conduct; may flex to other clinics; may perform waived testing with supervisory discretion; ensures draw area is restocked and sharps containers/biohazard trash containers are emptied; supports training of new employees/students; maintains inventory and cleanliness of the laboratory; checks appointment schedules and communicates results as required; maintains patient confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Phlebotomy class completion OR one year of phlebotomy experience required
- Phlebotomy certification preferred
