Job Summary
Conduct accurate specimen collection, labeling, and handling while interpreting provider test orders and following standard operating procedures. Process collected samples by evaluating acceptability, labeling aliquots, and identifying defects before passing to the next step. Utilize HIS and LIS software systems for patient registration, test order entry, and all job-related functions. Maintain a clean environment, support patient comfort through compassionate care, and manage inventory by reviewing expiration dates. Assist with team member training and ensure adherence to safety practices, regulatory policies, and the PRIDE and AIDET communication models.
Required Qualifications
- Accurate interpretation of provider test orders
- Knowledge and proficiency in HIS and LIS software systems
- Demonstrated ability to independently identify and analyze problems
- Physical capability to perform job duties requiring physical effort
- Effective communication skills
- Adaptability to shifting priorities and workplace needs
- Knowledge of and practice of department safety procedures
- Ability to maintain a structured approach to tasks
- Detail-oriented approach to ensure accuracy and consistency
