Job Summary
Obtain medical history and vitals from donors or patients, then perform phlebotomy and collection procedures to gather whole blood or blood components in compliance with FDA regulations and AABB standards. Display excellent customer service and professionalism while assisting with the recruitment of potential apheresis and bone marrow donors. This role involves moderately physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds and operating equipment on mobile unit buses, with exposure to blood-borne pathogens and adverse environmental conditions. Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read, understand and follow documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to organize work for timely completion
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Ability to speak, write, read, and understand English
- Basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to lift, carry, push and/or of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 50 pounds)
- Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk, stand, and use manual dexterity in the operating of phlebotomy equipment
- Ability to work inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as inclement weather, atmospheric elements and pathogenic substances
- Ability to work in close/small work spaces on mobile unit buses
- Ability to tolerate vibration and motion common on mobile unit buses
- Ability to tolerate moderate noise level in the work environment
