Job Summary
Obtain medical history and vitals from donors, then perform phlebotomy and collection procedures for whole blood and blood components in compliance with FDA regulations and AABB standards. Assist with recruiting potential apheresis and bone marrow donors while maintaining excellent customer service. Work inside and outside mobile unit buses, handling moderately heavy objects up to 50 pounds and navigating vibration and motion. Perform routine reporting and follow safety protocols in environments with potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read, understand and follow documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to organize work for timely completion
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Ability to speak, write, read, and understand English
- Basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to lift, carry, push and/or of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 50 pounds)
- Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk, stand, and have manual dexterity in the operating of phlebotomy equipment
- Ability to work inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as inclement weather, atmospheric elements and pathogenic substances
- Ability to work in close/small work spaces on mobile unit buses
- Ability to tolerate vibration and motion common on mobile unit buses
- Ability to tolerate moderate noise level in the work environment
