Job Summary
This role focuses on soliciting gifts from individuals, including alumni, to support university priorities. It requires managing a donor portfolio of 75–100 prospects, meeting annual financial goals, and pursuing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities (visits, calls, proposals). The position emphasizes identifying donor needs, developing targeted solicitation strategies, maintaining donor records, and collaborating with advancement team members to secure major gifts. Strong interpersonal, negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills are essential to build lasting donor relationships and contribute to the university’s fundraising priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated progressive success in major gift and/or planned giving fundraising
- Experience with fundraising campaigns in higher education
- Strong donor relationship building and closing major gifts (six-figure range)
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Adherence to ethical principles (AFP/CASE)
- Willingness to work outside standard hours and travel occasionally
- Self-starter with initiative and professional judgment
