Job Summary
Conduct research on novel enzyme-based conversion concepts for 1-carbon substrates and synthetic polymers, focusing on CO2-related substrate degradation and redox enzyme boosting. Perform enzyme discovery, detailed function characterization, and kinetic analysis to link experimental data with catalytic mechanisms. Execute protein engineering, heterologous expression, and in silico modeling including molecular docking and dynamics. Supervise and teach BSc and MSc students while collaborating internationally, including a planned research stay at UNSW, Sydney.
Required Qualifications
- solid foundation in chemistry and biotechnology
- theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in enzyme biotechnology
- strong interest in developing the novel type of applied enzyme technology in focus in the PhD project

- two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree
- Experience with state-of-the-art protein/DNA construct design software and protein engineering
