Job Summary
Independently perform all technical aspects of prescription preparation including compounding and dispensing responsibilities, as per master worksheets; replenish stock medication supplies for assigned areas; ensure patient information is updated and maintained in the pharmacy computer system; complete all required reports and documentation; attend, participate and assist in staff and patient training/educational functions; perform workload measurement support functions; and perform cross-functional and/other duties consistent with the job classification. Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program at an accredited college or recognized equivalent required; registration as a Pharmacy Technician (Part A) in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists required. Ability to work under minimal supervision and to manage competing priorities. Two years practical and related experience preferred; hospital experience with unit dose system and intravenous admixture service preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program at an accredited college or recognized equivalent
- Registration as a Pharmacy Technician (Part A) in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Ability to work under minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn and troubleshoot changing technologies/machinery
- Two years practical and related experience preferred
- Previous hospital experience with unit dose system and intravenous admixture service, preferred
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job
