Pharmacy Technician - Visual Inspector/Labeling

Job Summary
Conduct 100% manual visual inspections of all finished compounded sterile preparations using black and white background light stations to detect particulate matter, container defects, leaks, and incorrect fill volumes. Quarantine defective products, document findings on logs or deviation reports, and escalate to QA Management. Accurately record results in quality systems, calculate defect trends, and verify product identity prior to dispensing. Maintain workstation cleanliness, follow aseptic protocols, and participate in training and audits. Handle hazardous products with appropriate PPE. Requires Texas State Board of Pharmacy licensure, minimum one year pharmacy experience, and ability to sit or stand for eight hours.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Pharmacy Technician registration/licensure with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (or eligibility to obtain)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a pharmacy, compounding, or pharmaceutical quality control setting
- Ability to sit/stand for extended periods (up to 8+ hours)
- Frequent use of hands/arms for handling products, tools, and documentation
- Occasional lifting of product trays or boxes (up to 20–30 lbs)
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree or certification in pharmacy technology, quality control, or related field
- Direct experience with visual inspection of sterile products (vials, syringes, bags) in a 503A or 503B environment
- Familiarity with USP <797> requirements for CSP visual inspection and release
- Knowledge of sterile compounding environments, aseptic technique, and hazardous drug handling
- Manual dexterity and ability to concentrate for extended periods during repetitive inspections
