Job Summary
Maintain high standards of client relations while assisting pharmacists in accurately and efficiently performing all technical aspects of prescription dispensing. Prepare or compound extemporaneous products using appropriate techniques under pharmacist supervision and manage operations of blister packaging automation. Handle inventory and supplies, perform manual and out-of-province billings, and manage specialty medications related billing. This role is located at Toronto Western Hospital with the possibility of cross coverage at Toronto General and Princess Margaret Hospital Outpatient Pharmacy. The position requires registration as a Pharmacy Technician (Part A) in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists and completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program at an accredited college. Candidates must be able to work variable shifts, manage competing priorities, and troubleshoot changing technologies such as automated blister packaging machines.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program at an accredited college or recognized equivalent
- Registration as a Pharmacy Technician (Part A) in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and to manage competing priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work variable shifts
- Criminal Record Check
Desired Qualifications
- Two years practical and related experience
- Previous hospital experience with unit dose system and intravenous admixture service
- Ability to learn and troubleshoot changing technologies/machinery (e.g. automated blister packaging machine)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Certificate of competency from the Pharmacy Examination Board of Canada
- Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Manual billings, out of province billings and specialty medications related billing
- Experience/working knowledge of Delta (Health Watch), Kroll and Point of Sales System
- IV Compounding experience
