Job Summary
Welcome patients at all pharmacy entry points with compassion and acknowledge their needs immediately. Process orders in person and by phone, direct patients to products, and refer prescription or OTC questions to the pharmacist. Maintain a clean work environment, use the pharmacy computer for drop-off, will call, drive-thru, and filling tasks, and transcribe prescription data accurately to generate custom labels. Assist team members with tasks, finalize sales using the cash register, and maintain proper inventory levels by ordering, receiving, and rotating drugs. Answer telephone inquiries politely, resolve customer concerns, file written prescriptions daily, and follow all company, state, and federal policies including HIPAA. Complete required training and exams. Long Term Care candidates may perform medication cycle exchanges and cart audits on-site.
Required Qualifications
- Eligible to obtain registration as pharmacy technician with the applicable state board of pharmacy
- At least 18 years of age
- Up to 25 pounds lifting requirement
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 0 to 6 months experience
- Knowledge of all appropriate service and business metrics
- Knowledge of HIPAA and Pseudoephedrine sales
- Knowledge of company, state and federal policies, laws and regulations
- Ability to complete required training program and accompanying exams
- Ability to search for patients and profiles
- Ability to determine dates of fill and pick-up
- Ability to determine prescriptions sent to Central Fill
- Ability to quote cash prices of prescriptions
- Ability to check on-hand counts of medications
- Ability to enter invoices
- Ability to transcribe data from prescriptions accurately
- Ability to order, receive, stock and rotate drugs and other supplies
- Ability to answer telephone in a polite and timely manner
- Ability to exchange accurate information
- Ability to communicate effectively with the customer and the management team and support staff
- Ability to file written prescriptions daily
- Ability to perform medication cycle exchange on-site at the facilities we service (Long Term Care only)
- Ability to perform medication cart audits on-site at the facilities we service (Long Term Care only)
