Job Summary
Manage medication inventory, storage, and delivery by stocking automated systems, checking expiration dates, and utilizing pneumatic tube or hand delivery. Process medication requests, prepare orders based on recipes, package medications according to laws, and document tracking logs while maintaining patient confidentiality. Triage phone calls and resolve service issues, deferring all clinical decisions to pharmacists. Complete didactic, simulation, and experiential training modules, including ambulatory and acute care rotations, to prepare for the PTCB certification exam.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Be enrolled in the URMC ASHP accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program (PTTP)
- Become certified through an alternate method within 180 days
- PHAR-C - Certified Pharmacy Tech via the PTCB Certification Exam within 180 days
- Complete all required training and activities needed for preparation to take and pass the PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam
- Complete didactic, simulation, and experiential training under administration
- Complete all assigned computer-based learning modules in a timely manner
- Attend and complete all assigned experiential rotations as part of the PTU
- Complete all assigned simulation tasks, observed and graded by a preceptor of the program
- Keep unapproved absences to a minimum
- Ensure all missed course work is made up in a timely manner
- Review, understand and follow all policies and procedures applicable to employment and enrollment in PTU
