Pharmacy Technician TRAINEE (Carilion Clinic Pharmacy - Inpatient and Retail)

Job Summary
Prepare and distribute medications, IV solutions, and supplies while supporting sterile and non-sterile compounding per USP standards. Manage inventory, restocking, and documentation of medications and supplies. Compile medication histories, reconcile patient records, and maintain files. Schedule meetings, compile data, and communicate with internal departments and external customers. Complete an OnDemand Video Interview response and demonstrate proficiency in English and high school-level mathematics during the application process. Work rotating day and evening shifts with flexibility for every third weekend during the 16-week ASHP-accredited training program.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Registration with state board of pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee, when directed
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Basic computer proficiency
- Fundamental math and problem-solving skills
- Effective time-management skills
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in the English language (reading, writing, and speaking)
- High school-level mathematics
- Ability to complete an OnDemand Video Interview response
- Ability to meet eligibility requirements for registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy and apply when directed
- Ability to work every third weekend during the program
- Schedule flexibility for rotating training experiences
- Availability for 8-hour shifts starting between 7:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
- Availability for 8-hour shifts ending no later than 7:45 p.m.
- Ability to work in a Drug-Free Workplace
