Job Summary
Prepare, compound, and dispense sterile and nonsterile hazardous medications in the ambulatory oncology setting while managing inventory, documentation, and hazardous waste disposal. Ensure safe intravenous medication administration through proper PPE usage, CSTD implementation, and strict adherence to USP <797> and <800> aseptic techniques. Support investigational drug management, including inventory control, record keeping, and vendor purchasing activities to minimize waste and manage drug shortages. Monitor equipment fidelity and generate reports from clinical systems to optimize drug use and decision-making. Maintain competency through annual testing and 3 hours of continuing education. Monday through Friday schedule with excellent medical, dental, and vacation benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician at the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy
- Understanding and demonstrating proper aseptic technique as outlined in USP <797> and USP <800>
- Must obtain 3 hours of continuing education; one hour of which is subject to a live credit hour
- Technicians can receive CE credit for any CE hour that is either approved by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ABOP) or Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education-Technician (ACPE-T)
Desired Qualifications
- Compounding and dispensing hazardous medications is highly preferred
