Pharmacy Technician

Job Summary
Stock and take inventory of medications, including prescription and over-the-counter items. Retrieve, count, pour, weigh, package, and label products while maintaining customer profiles and preparing insurance forms. Receive prescriptions and refills from patients, operate the cash register, and process payments. Notify the Pharmacy Manager of supply needs and ensure the department remains clean and well-stocked. Abide by HIPAA and all legal policies, performing any delegated tasks except final verification of prescriptions and patient counseling. Complete duties with accuracy and efficiency to support licensed pharmacists and the store's financial interests.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- State appropriate registration or certification
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents
- Basic mathematical skills
- Familiarity with all products carried in the department
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Must be able to bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently
- Must be able to work in a typical retail store environment (varied temperatures)
- Must be able to be exposed to outside weather conditions
- Must be able to work in a low to moderate noise level environment
- Must be able to travel (travel requirements vary by assignment)
- Must be able to abide by HIPAA and all legal policies and procedures
- Must be able to perform tasks delegated by pharmacist on duty other than final verification of prescriptions and patient counseling on medications
Desired Qualifications
- One (1) year prior customer service-oriented pharmacy related experience
