Job Summary

Prepare medications for patient consumption under the general supervision of a licensed pharmacist while reading and interpreting physicians' orders into the pharmacy computer profile. Handle "STAT" order calls, pick-ups, and deliveries, and assist with billing using appropriate computer functions and reason codes. Check and remove outdated medications, file associated paperwork, and maintain strict HIPAA compliance for all patient data. This role requires fluency in English and Spanish, a high school diploma, and two years of retail pharmacy experience preferred. The position offers a salary of $22.00 to $23.12 per hour with a Saturday schedule from 7:30am to 3:30pm including a half-hour lunch.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Must speak/write Spanish fluently
  • Certificate from hospital-based pharmacy technical training program, junior college graduate or State certification as Pharmacy Technician
  • Bilingual English/Spanish and familiarity with the Hispanic culture
  • Work schedule may include weekends as needed
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work under pressure of deadlines
  • Ability to meet tight time sensitive deadlines
  • Motivated and committed to the provision of high-quality healthcare for indigent and underserved communities

Desired Qualifications

  • Two years of Retail Pharmacy experience preferred
  • FQHC experience, highly preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Motivation to take the initiative to ensure all tasks performed are completed thoroughly and accurately
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of administrative principles and procedures
  • Computer knowledge preferred (e.g., NextGen (E.H.R. & PMS), Microsoft Word and Excel), and Digital Rx
  • Knowledge of the following (but not limited to), preferred: My Health LA, PPO's, HMO's, Medicare, Family PACT, CPSP, Medi-Cal, Fee-for-Service, CHDP, Managed Care Plans, Every Woman Counts
