Job Summary
Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision of a pharmacist to fill prescriptions, assist patients, and perform other pharmacy service duties. Responsibilities include performing technical tasks such as filling, compounding, reconstitution and labeling; entering patient information into the pharmacy computer system; calculating dispense quantities; verifying patient identity; offering patient counseling with a pharmacist; prioritizing prescription filling; labeling prescriptions; maintaining inventory including removing expired medications; processing prescription returns and insurance reversals; responding to phone inquiries and walk-up requests; operating POS equipment and vendor software; and participating in quality assurance activities and department initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (as a credential)
- Licensed Pharmacy Technician within 60 days of license application (IL)
- Certified Pharmacy Technician within 2 years of license issue date (IL)
- Illinois IDFPR certification requirements
- E-Verify participation and Form I-9 confirmation as applicable
