Job Summary
Under direct supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician fills prescriptions, performs technical tasks such as filling, compounding, reconstitution and labeling, and enters patient information into the pharmacy computer system. Responsibilities include identifying correct medication, ensuring accurate patient data, providing patient counseling with a pharmacist, handling insurance reversals and prior authorizations, and participating in inventory management, quality assurance monitoring, and process improvements. Proficient use of pharmacy equipment and software (including point-of-sale systems) and ability to prioritize prescriptions by importance are required.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (Pharm Tech)
- Licensed Pharmacy Technician within 60 days of license application (IL)
- Certification not Required - Student Pharmacist or Licensed before 1/1/2008 - Exempt/Not Required
