Job Summary

Pharmacy Technician PRN, under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, assists with dispensing medications, labeling bottles, stocking medication areas, and maintaining accurate inventory. Responsibilities include counting tablets, data entry for inventory records, assisting with electronic medical records, medication reconciliation processes, and screening patients for pharmacist consults. Maintains HIPAA confidentiality, adheres to policies, completes Healthstreams annually, and supports a team-focused environment while performing duties accurately and efficiently to ensure patient safety and optimal pharmaceutical care.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Certification of Pharmacy Technical Training Program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) as a Pharmacy Technician preferred
  • Registered by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy mandatory
  • 2 - 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, communications and mathematical skills
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field regarding medication brand and generic names and understanding of medical terminology and calculations
  • Knowledge of state, federal and accrediting body regulations and standards related to healthcare
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, with additional languages preferred
  • Demonstrates ability to comprehend written and oral instructions
  • Maintains Healthstreams annually
  • Maintain National Pharmacy Technician Certification
  • Maintain State Pharmacy Technician Registration

Desired Qualifications

  • Registered by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
