Job Summary
Assist the pharmacist in medication distribution while managing inventory control, narcotic record keeping, TPN calculations, and chemotherapeutic medication preparation. Maintain current registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy and hold an ACPE-approved Sterile Compounding Certification with a minimum of 40 hours of training. Complete I.V. Certification within three months of hire. Demonstrate knowledge of drug names, medical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, and pharmacy equipment while utilizing strong communication and organizational skills to promote effective working relationships. Adhere to strict confidentiality standards and provide high-quality customer service. This rotating, part-time position requires two years of pharmacy technician experience and is available to candidates with a high school diploma or GED.
Required Qualifications
- Two (2) years of work experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Current registration for Pharmacy Technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
- Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) approved Sterile Compounding Certification Required for Hire with a minimum 40 hours of training completed
- I.V. Certification completed within 3 months of hire
- High School graduate or GED equivalent
- Possess knowledge of drug names, medical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, and different pharmacy work areas and equipment used
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to establish, maintain and promote effective working relationships
- Excellent computer skills
- Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality
- Highly Customer Service Oriented individual
Desired Qualifications
- Graduation from a Pharmacy Technician program preferred
