Job Summary
Prepare and dispense medications under pharmacist supervision, including packaging, labeling, and dosage calculations. Manage pharmaceutical inventory by ordering supplies, monitoring stock levels, and documenting controlled substance records. Process prescriptions, refill requests, and insurance transactions while maintaining accurate pharmacy records and documentation. Greet patients, answer routine questions, collect information, and process transactions with professionalism. Maintain a clean, organized environment and ensure compliance with all pharmacy regulations and HIPAA requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Current Louisiana Pharmacy Technician registration or eligibility to obtain registration upon hire
- Minimum one year of pharmacy experience
- Knowledge of pharmacy procedures, medication inventory management, and prescription processing
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with pharmacy software systems
- Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Desired Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT)
