Job Summary
Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in dispensing prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs while verifying accuracy and checking for interactions. Process patient and drug information using pharmacy systems, register sales on the cash register, and handle telephone calls to physicians. Engage customers by greeting them, resolving issues, and proactively offering assistance to ensure a positive experience. Manage inventory by ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments, and report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty. Maintain the pharmacy department by ensuring it is stocked, clean, and orderly, and support clinical services including sample collection as required.
Required Qualifications
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
- Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration.
- Attends training requested by Manager and acquires continuing education credits.
- Maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Desired Qualifications
- Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
- Prefer good computer skills.
- Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control.
- Prefer PTCB certification.
