Job Summary
Assist the pharmacist in dispensing prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs while verifying accuracy and checking for interactions. Process prescriptions using pharmacy systems, register sales on the cash register, and handle telephone calls for physicians. Engage customers by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience. Manage inventory by ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments while maintaining department cleanliness. Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to strict quality improvement policies. Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program while completing assigned learning activities.
Required Qualifications
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
- Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
- Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration.
- Otherwise, earns PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician.
Desired Qualifications
- Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
- Prefer good computer skills.
- Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control.
- Prefer PTCB certification.
