Job Summary
Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in dispensing prescriptions by retrieving, counting, pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying accuracy, and checking for interactions. Process patient and drug information using pharmacy systems, register sales on the cash register, handle telephone calls, and manage inventory activities including ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments. Deliver a distinctive customer experience by greeting patients, resolving issues, and assisting with locating over-the-counter products while adhering to state and federal regulations. Report prescription errors immediately and support the development of relationships with the local medical community. Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program while completing assigned special tasks and maintaining pharmacy department cleanliness and supplies.
Required Qualifications
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (Except in Puerto Rico)
- Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours
- Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration
- Otherwise, earns PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician
- Attends training requested by Manager and acquires continuing education credits
- Maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment
- Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens
- Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications
- Prefer good computer skills
- Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control
- Prefer PTCB certification
