Job Summary
Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in dispensing prescriptions, retrieving and counting pharmaceutical drugs, verifying accuracy, and checking for interactions. Process patient and drug information using pharmacy systems, register sales on the cash register, and handle telephone calls from physicians. Manage inventory by ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments, while reporting prescription errors immediately and adhering to Good Faith Dispensing policies. Engage customers by greeting them, resolving issues, and offering assistance with products to ensure a positive experience. Support clinical services by collecting and labeling blood or urine samples and maintain a clean, stocked pharmacy department. Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program while completing continuing education and special assignments as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
- Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
- Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration.
- Otherwise, earns PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician.
Desired Qualifications
- Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
- Prefer good computer skills.
- Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control.
- Prefer PTCB certification.
