Job Summary
Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in dispensing prescriptions, retrieving and counting pharmaceutical drugs, verifying accuracy, and checking for interactions. Process prescriptions using pharmacy systems, register sales on the cash register, handle cash, and manage manual claims for third-party programs. Engage customers and patients by greeting them, resolving issues, and offering assistance with products and services to deliver a distinctive customer experience. Support inventory management by ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments while maintaining department cleanliness and supplies. Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program, attend requested training, and acquire continuing education credits.
Required Qualifications
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
- Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
- Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration.
- Otherwise, earns PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician.
Desired Qualifications
- Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
- Prefer good computer skills.
- Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control.
- Prefer PTCB certification.
