Job Summary
Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in dispensing prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs while verifying accuracy and checking for interactions. Process prescriptions using pharmacy systems, register sales on the cash register, and handle telephone calls for physicians. Engage customers by greeting them, resolving issues, and offering assistance with products to deliver a distinctive customer experience. Support inventory management by ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals, and assist with clinical services such as collecting and labeling blood or urine samples. Maintain a clean, stocked, and orderly pharmacy department while completing special assignments as directed.
Required Qualifications
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
- Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
- Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration.
- Otherwise, earns PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician.
Desired Qualifications
- Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
- Prefer good computer skills.
- Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control.
- Prefer PTCB certification.
